quick draw Strategy

Back in April, the winning Deck at the biggest Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournament of all time was Quickdraw Dandywarrior. Ever since, it’s been a popular choice among Duelists. While some Duelists have moved on to X-Sabers and Infernities, 2 exciting and powerful Decks boosted by cards in The Shining Darkness, there are several new cards that make Quickdraw Dandywarrior Decks stronger than ever as well. Today we’re going to look at these cards, and how they can increase the power of your Deck.

Most of Quickdraw Dandywarrior’s new tricks come from the Starter Deck: Duelist Toolbox. Junk Destroyer is a card that Dandywarrior Duelists have been waiting for because it turns all those Fluff Tokens that Dandylion creates into offensive power for a devastating knockout blow. Junk Destroyer is a Level 8 Synchro Monster that can be Summoned by Tuning Junk Synchron (remember, Quickdraw Synchron counts as any “Synchron” monster when used for a Synchro Summon) and any non-Tuners you control.

Once it’s Summoned, you can then destroy a number of cards up to the number on non-Tuners you used for the Synchro Summon. If you used the Level 5 Quickdraw Synchron as your Tuner, and 3 Level 1 Fluff Tokens as your non-Tuners, you can destroy up to 3 of your opponent’s cards! If you use an actual Junk Synchron as your Tuner though, you can combine it with 3 Fluff Tokens and a Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter to destroy 4 cards!

Junk Destroyer isn’t the only new card we saw in the Starter Deck: Duelist Toolbox though. Synchron Explorer opens up many new combos for Quickdraw Duelists, thanks to its useful effect. When Synchron Explorer is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon any “Synchron” monster from your Graveyard, even higher-level ones like Quickdraw Synchron. By bringing back Quickdraw Synchron, you’ve already got enough monsters on the field to Synchro Summon a Level 7 monster like Nitro Warrior or Junk Archer, and if you’ve already got a Fluff Token on the field, you can Summon Junk Destroyer and destroy 2 cards!

Synchron Explorer can also help out when you’re trying to Summon other Synchros as well. If you Special Summon Junk Synchron with its effect, you can Synchro Summon a Level 5 Ally of Justice Catastor, Junk Warrior or Magical Android right away, and if you’ve got any Fluff Tokens lying about, you can Summon the Level 6 Goyo Guardian, Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier, or even a Level 7 Black Rose Dragon. Another neat little trick you can do with Synchron Explorer is Special Summon a second copy of itself from the Graveyard, giving you more options when you control a Tuner already.

The last new card we’re going to look at is Genex Neutron, from The Shining Darkness. When Genex Neutron is Normal Summoned, you can add a Machine-Type Tuner monster from your Deck to your hand during your End Phase. This lets you get to your Quickdraw Synchron as early as possible, allowing you to Synchro Summon before your opponent has a chance to protect themselves. Genex Neutron also has 1800 ATK, making it one of the strongest cards in your Main Deck, so even if you can’t Synchro Summon right away, you can still defeat a monster or deal big damage to your opponents Life Points by attacking directly.

One important thing to remember about Genex Neutron though is that you can only add your Tuner to your hand if Genex Neutron is still face-up in your End Phase. If your opponent destroys it before then, or flips it face-down with Book of Moon, you won’t be able to use Genex Neutron’s effect. This can work in your favour though. If your opponent doesn’t want you to get a Quickdraw Synchron so early, they’ll have to use cards like Bottomless Trap Hole or Mirror Force on your Genex Neutron. If they do this, you won’t have to worry about those cards when you do get your Quickdraw and Synchro Summon your strongest monsters!

Thanks to these 3 new cards, Quickdraw Dandywarrior got just the power boost it needed to take on Infernities, X-Sabers and all the other Decks you can expect to face at your next tournament. Try them out in your own Quickdraw Deck and you’ll be Synchro Summoning faster than ever before!
