NOTE: Pictures show how the configuration should look like, but to know the important details, please read the whole tutorial.1. Step: Downloading the programYou have to download the program for capturing a video directly from your screen.
This tutorial is about Configuration of Hypercam 2 so download it from the link below.
(Hypercam 3 looks better but it doesn't have a good option that the 2nd version has. It is the playback speed that doesn't work well in 3rd version. You will understand later as it is explained in step 2)
Download here: http://www.hyperionics.com/index.asp?Page=hc/changelog.asp
2. Step :Configure Hypercam so it works well (for a duel movie)Hypercam menu contains: Screen Area, Hot Keys, Avi File, Sound, Other options
and License.
Click on Avi File.
-You may change the destination for saving the video, but it is not necessary, the default option is to save it in your documents.
-The "Rate per second, record" means how many pictures are captured in one second for the video. Your eye cannot see any flaws in the movie frames if they are set 16 or higher as your eye can't catch that much frames at once. So set the "Rate per second, record" to 16 (recommended).
-The "Playback" option is for the outcome speed of your movie. If it's value is same as the "Rate per second, record" value, then your movie will have normal speed. As you make the playback value bigger, your movie will play faster at the end. (16 frames per second recorded, 32 played in movie, so it is twice faster) Recommended value for "playback" is 64 as it makes your match duel 4 times faster (if Rate per second, record was set to 16).
(This option doesn't work well in Hypercam 3 and that is why we use the ver. 2 for match duel movies)
-Video compressor: This option compresses your movie so it doesn't require GBytes of disk space but much less. I've tried some of them and i recommend you to use
divix 6.9.2 codec as it compresses well (a 30 mins video would need about 300 Mbytes of free harddisk space)
NOTE: If you don't have the divix codec for some reason, then simply download it (it compresses the best)
-Frame compression quality: Set it to 100% so it compresses very well.
Now click on "Configure this compressor"
Set the codec to 1080HD profile and set quality to 3 (i checked more and less it doesn't really change something) so you are able to record a duel with real duel resolution, if you don't set 1080HD profile, the codec wont be able to record such a big area of DN and will cause an error.
Click on Sound! You do not need sound options for a match duel movie because in these movies your playback will be faster so nobody needs half an hour to watch it to the end but about 5 minutes or maybe less. You may put some music later when you finish recording the video. Leave the sound options.
Click options:Check the record cursor box so your cursor will be visible in your movie, if you want you can adjust the starburst of cursor so people know when you click something.
3. Step: Recording a videoIn Hypercam click on Screen Area.
Click on "select window" and move mouse on DN window, then left mouse click on it. The area is selected.
When recording options:
Click on "Iconize Hypercam window to the taskbar" so when you start recording the Hypercam window will go down and wont be visible so your movie looks well done.
Hotkeys windowLearn to use the hot-keys before recording so you don't have to open the Hypercam window.
To record click F2, to stop click F2 while recording, to pause click F3, and to shot a single frame click F4.
4. Step: Adding music to the videoFor this step you need knowledge in movie maker or any other movie editing software.
For the ones that don't know to use such software:
Open windows move maker. Move your saved video from your directory direct into movie maker window and also your sound. Put those into the storyboard and timeline and it is much important to make sure the sound is not shorter or further than video length. Save your video (make sure you save the video and not only the Movie maker project).
5. Step: Uploading the videoTo upload the video, first you have to sign up in youtube, after doing that, you are able to upload. When you are done with uploading your video, you will get the link of it. Copy it and paste into your post.
I HOPE THIS HELPED! HAVE FUN RECORDING MATCHES!
