| Mastering The Mighty Ma’at!In the final chapter of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga, Jaden uses the powers of the legendary Ma’at to defeat Tragoedia in a Duel, bringing the story of Duel Academy to a close! Ma’at wields all seven of the Millennium Items, and a powerful ability that lets you draw cards and power it up if you can guess the cards on top of your Deck. In the manga, Jaden Summons Ma’at by fusing Winged Kuriboh with Chazz’s Light and Darkness Dragon. But you can Special Summon the version of Ma’at that you’ll find in the Premium Collection by sending a LIGHT Dragon-Type and a LIGHT Fairy-Type monster from the field to the Graveyard. Check it out!Ma’at lets you snag up to three cards for free, and can get up to a Duel-devastating 3000 ATK! To get there, you’re going to have to do a little set-up: the first task is Summoning Ma’at. To do that you’ll need a LIGHT Dragon-Type and a LIGHT Fairy-Type on the field. As long as you have the right monsters in your deck, that’s not tough: Ma’at is Special Summoned from your hand, so if you can Special Summon your Dragon or your Fairy, you can Normal Summon the other monster in the same turn. Here are some Dragons that you can use to bring Ma’at into play:-Alexandrite Dragon is one of the best monsters to use in any Deck built around Ma’at. You can Normal Summon it any time, so it’s really easy to play. With 2000 ATK, it can take down big monsters like Thunder King Rai-Oh or Sabersaurus, so it’s useful even if you haven’t drawn Ma’at yet.-You can Tribute Summon Lightpulsar Dragon like most Level 6 monsters, but it also has abilities that let you Special Summon it from your hand or your Graveyard, too. With three ways to Summon it, Lightpulsar brings alot of flexibility to your Ma’at Deck.-Ninjas go with almost everything, and you can even build a Ninja Ma’at Deck! Ninjitsu Art of Super-Transformation Special Summons White Dragon Ninja straight from your Deck. Add a LIGHT Fairy-Type, and you’ve got the monsters you need.Ninjas aren’t the only monster theme that are a natural fit for Ma’at. Lightsworn Duelists have Judgment Dragon, and the new Lightray Diabolos from Galactic Overlord: both are powerful LIGHT Dragon-Types that can be Special Summoned when your Graveyard is filled. The new “Hieratic” monsters are all LIGHT Dragon-Types too, and many of them have Special Summon abilities that can help you out. We’ll talk more about them [in a couple weeks / later this month].Once you’ve got a LIGHT Dragon, you’ll need a LIGHT Fairy to match it! There are plenty of good options, for example…Soul of Purity and Light:Since you can Special Summon Soul of Purity and Light just by banishing two LIGHT monsters from your Graveyard, it’s a great trick for your Ma’at strategy. It’s really easy to Summon, and its 2000 ATK is pretty powerful. If your deck runs “Agent” monsters, a spent The Agent of Creation – Venus, a stranded Mystic Shine Ball or a locked down Master Hyperion can be a top choice too.Arcana Force 0 – The Fool:Instead of Special Summoning your LIGHT Fairy, you can use one of the many Fairy-Types that can’t be destroyed in battle. Monsters like Arcana Force 0 – The Fool; Marshmallon; and Gellenduo will all protect your Life Points while you wait to draw the cards you need. Shining Angel is similar, since your first Angel can Summon another if it’s destroyed in battle.Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands: Manju is another strong monster with Ma’at, because its effect searches a Ritual Monster or Ritual Spell from your Deck when it’s Summoned. Getting a free search balances out the cards you send to the Graveyard. Play Manju with Paladin of White Dragon, and you’ll have everything you need to Special Summon Ma’at!There are many LIGHT Fairies with useful effects, too. You can run monsters like Honest, Herald of Orange Light, or Skelengel for their abilities, and then when you have the right cards in hand, combo off to Special Summon Ma’at.Once you Summon Ma’at, all you have to do is predict the top three cards of your Deck. In the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga, Jaden did that by using Ma’at’s Millennium Eye to predict all of his cards! Those of us not currently in possession of a Millennium item will have to be a bit more creative.-Big Eye lets you see the top cards of your Deck and rearrange them, so you’ll know which cards to call and get to put them in the order you want. You’ll get to add all three to your hand, and Ma’at will have 3000 ATK.-Some effects let you load a card to the top of your Deck, so you’ll know at least one to call with Ma’at’s ability. Plaguespreader Zombie lets you place a card from your hand on top of your Deck to Special Summon it, while A Feather of the Phoenix returns a card from your Graveyard to the top of your Deck. Plaguespreader is also a Tuner, and combined with Level 6 monsters like Soul of Purity and Light, gives you access to strong Level 8 Synchro Monsters.-Convulsion of Nature and Gishki Diviner let you peek at your top card, too, and if you’re super lucky with Diviner, add it to your hand! |
