Spellcaster Guide
I decided to write this article. It is going to help anyone who tries
to create a good spellcaster deck. I'll try to keep all simple and not
too long. I'll also try to make it not boring to read and study powers
of spellcasters.
There are certain builds that are worth mentioning, you must know of counter casters, a variant of spellcaster deck that uses spell counters to feed on energy. Many of you have seen spellcaster village lockdown deck that will kill your spell instantly. Some counter decks may be burn due Tempest Magician's ability. There is even special build for Arcanite Magician and Assault mode counter part.
You can't never know all about your opponent playing style. If you are a impatient person who wants to kill instantly, don't bother to launch these in your deck, they are slow and need time to set up, but when they do, it's a instant kill.
Pros:- Can lock opponent
- Can feed on your spells for effects that are great
- Can synchro well
- Can swarm
Cons:- Not much drawing power
- Slow
I will start analyzing some monster cards, I'll post their names and pros and cons.
Apprentice magicianThis is too good card to be left out. It can search for old vindictive
magician or crystal seer, Night's end sorcerer, Old vindictive magician. I would put at
least two copies of this card to deck. Why? Because it is much better
than other searching cards, like mystic tomato etc. You can summon
monster in defense which is no damage to your LP. Warn: Don't run these in Village decks, can lock you down easily but summoning face down. It's your choice.
Breaker the magical warriorThis card is a staple, walking MST. I suggest this card to be used due it's
cool effect. Also you can recycle it's effect with apprentice magician
or citadel of Endymion. Remove much spell counters that you gain by your spells or effects to clear the back row for safe attack. This card is staple in most deck
Chaos command magicianIt is immune to any effect that designates a target. I mean, you get a
beatstick who can't be destroyed by man eater bug or returned to hand
by penguin soldier. Also it can be summoned by magical dimension or anything else. No gale, no ryko... Heaven...
CopycatA card that is very useful in light control decks. Works wonders with
magical exemplar. You can destroy DaD or most of threats with this
card. Also, honest works with it. Nice... I mean this card is suppose to be found in build for village or light control decks, not counters.
Crystal seerThis card gives you +1 card, you can include it in apprentice engine, it's up to you if you want to use it. Personally, I have left it out of sample deck.
Cybernetic magician
Imagine Dad with 2000 attack points. Also, imagine sheep token with 2000 attack. Aggro players, enjoy this card. I can't find a place for it in deck I run, but if you can keep at least 1 it can get useful sometimes. Up to you, as always.
Dark red enchanser
Well...This card is not anything special. It can be used in hand control
decks, but I don't know. I don't like this guy very much. I have used
it once in my deck, and it got out on next reconstruction. It's stats is not amazing, same thing for effect. Keep it away please.
Injection fairy LilyDeath to DaD and gravity bind users. Also good card to use, you pay 2000
points for 3400 attack points. Also, you can gain them back with
Sebek's blessing. Lily can be combined with Cybernetic magician and
fairy meteor crush for extra damage. You may try something creative with her.
Kycoo the ghost destroyer
Meta players hate this card. Perfect against zombies and DaD, also you can
control your opponent's graveyard by removing opponent's cards from play.
Great card to use in lockdown builds. I don't prefer it in casters deck as they are a specie on their own.
Lyla the Lightsworn sorceressBreaker without a counter, also a good card for clearing your opponent's
field. Also it can be used to clear 2nd part of opponent's field for
clear target. Enjoy milling your deck too. Light control deck is great place for her.
Magical ExemplarGood for swarming field. Combine it with night's end sorcerer and it's effect.
Also can be used in lockdown spellcaster decks. Good card to consider
in Arcanite magician deck, you can recycle your tuners. This card is the one that will be tried to be destroyed by your opponent as it is walking spell counter monster reborn.
Magical MarionttePerfect target for magician's circle, 2000 attack power is good and also nice
sweeping effect. You can destroy one monster by removing two counters,
and attack increases by 200 for each. You control the field.
Old vindictive magicianApprentice magician target, good card to consider for your deck, pretty nice slaying monsters effect. Nice to add to decks if you find space.
Summoner monkNice effect, for one spell you get one monster, really nice when you need to
defend or use some nice effects or synchro summon a monster. It's a staple in synchro and assault decks, you can use it in any spellcaster deck for instant synchro summon.
Chaos Sorcerer
I think we all know what this guy can do so no need to write about it.
Defender, the magical KnightWant to see your opponent squirm while you remove counters from your citadel to keep your monsters alive. Put it in your counter casters deck then. Really, it's amazing card, great status and great usage. Also Chaos feeder.
Oracle of the sunHere is our cyber dragon. This card is great for synchro summoning so I'd include it in synchro spellcasters or Arcanite deck (AM too). It can't find it's place in counter casters though.

- Eccentric Boy (Great for AM deck)
- Night end sorcerer
Spell cards, you really need these to run spellcasters. I'll suggest some spells and traps.
Arcane barrierGood for drawing power, but you shouldn't use it If you don't want to stall
the duel. It can be a dead draw sometimes and just a card not worth
using. If you get it's role in deck, congratulations, I couldn't find
it.
Magical dimensionUsed to be staple. I would use max.2 copies. Also, it has a clearing effect
on opponent's monsters. I really like this card, use it, don't forget it. You tribute monster (not the cost) and summon new one from hand, so it's -2 in hand, +1 in field. If you like it, be my guest.
Spell power graspWell we know it'll probably be used for sure with Magical Citadel to give it 2 counters easily. This card has a lot of potential and I think it will definitely see in some play.

- Secret village of spellcasters
OMG, an ability to lock half of your opponent's deck. COOL!!! You just have
to beware of having non spellcaster face up monsters and no spellcaster. It can lock you
down, a double edge sword. Try this one in lockdown build, it's obvious, but keep away from face downs.
Magical Citadel of Endymion
Time to keep here your spellcounters. Let's count... 1, 2, 3, 4... 11, 12... God dammit. Check out exemplars, breaker and defender's eff. My eyes are rolling when I think how much can I swarm. Also, all counters from monsters will be moved here. I see no wasting exemplar's counters when destroyed. Counter casters = a must card.
Magician's circleA card that can bring out marionette or any other beatstick. It can swarm the field in a second, but don't run more than two.
Pitch black powerstoneCan be used for tempest, exemplar, breaker etc. You choose if you want to use it. I don't like it though.
Remember to build your deck around a theme, not other way. If you choose DM
revival deck, you shouldn't add all spellcasters, use other cards that
will support your strategy like Prisma. Also, If you want arcanite
magician deck don't add all spellcasters, use some revival and
recycling cards for your tuners. If you build spellcasters, you must
choose a theme first. Good luck with these cards, I hope I helped you with your choice.

Don't forget synchros such as explosive magician, arcanite and tempest. Try tempest and arcanite for otk, add counters to arcanite for insane attack and remove them for burn!
