Rise of the Snake Diety - The Reptile Guide Empty
PostSubject: Rise of the Snake Diety - The Reptile Guide   Rise of the Snake Diety - The Reptile Guide Icon_minitimeMon May 30, 2011 10:10 pm

Reptile is one of the least used and probably the least supported type in the game (Only four main archetypes exist: Alien, Reptilianne, Venom and Worms). But, with these limitations, reptiles have one of the best boss monsters in the entire game. I give you:

Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes
Rise of the Snake Diety - The Reptile Guide 386px-VennominagatheDeityofPoisonousSnakesTAEV-EN-ScR-1E

While other archetypes have their, JD, DAD, Shi en shenanigans, reptiles have this. The most powerful monster in the entire game.

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except with its own effect or with "Rise of the Snake Deity". This card gains 500 ATK for each Reptile-Type monster in your Graveyard. This card cannot be targeted and is unaffected by the effects of other Monsters, Spells, and Traps. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, you can remove from play 1 other Reptile-Type monster from your Graveyard to Special Summon this card. When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, place 1 Hyper-Venom Counter on it. When 3 Hyper-Venom Counters are on this card, you win the Duel.

Vennominaga is the only monster that has a blanket immunity to everything. This means if you manage to get her on to the field, it's GG for the opponent.

To bring out this might beast (or should I say reptile) you will require two cards:
Rise of the Snake Diety - The Reptile Guide 386px-RiseoftheSnakeDeityTAEV-EN-C-1ERise of the Snake Diety - The Reptile Guide 386px-VennominontheKingofPoisonousSnakesTAEV-EN-UR-1E

Pros and Cons
Pros
Almost guaranteed victory with Vennominaga on the field
Even without Vennominaga, the king is still a force to be reckoned with
Reptiles have a better/worse version of icarus attack
Vennominon is highly searchable/revivable due to its low stats
A lot of reptiles are lv 8/dark, so the trade-in/allure engine works very well
Cons
Vennonminon and Vennominaga are both high lv'ed monsters, this can sometimes lead to dead draws
Rise of the Snake deity is a trap card, therefore you can't use it on the same turn you draw it and it is vulnerable to spell/trap removal when you set it
Deck requires a grave full of reptiles, Macro/Zombie world destroys the deck
Some times difficult to dump reptiles to grave and bring out vennominon at the same time
The destruction of Vennonminon must be the last thing to happen in order to activate rise of the snake deity
Rise of the Snake deity can not be activated in the damage step

The Support

The two main archetypes to use with vennominaga are worms and reptiliannes.
I personally prefer worms because they have two lv 8 monster that can be used with trade-in and they have worm zero so future fusion can be used to dump reptiles.

Reptiliannes

Reptillianne Naga
This is amazing in a reptile deck, not only can't be destroyed by battle, but also make the atk of any monster it battle to zero. But the downside is it will change to attack mode if it's faceup during your end phase. 3 in reptilianne variant

Reptilianne Vaskii
Combo card with Naga. Opponent drops a big beater and atks into your naga, next turn tribute your naga and his beater to summon vaskii (preventing you from losing lifepoints if naga stays on the field and it gets rid of the opponents monster). Vaskii is also allure and trade-in'able. 3 in reptilianne variant

Reptilianne Gardna
Sangan for reptiliannes. It has a mandatory effect so it never misses the timing, but it needs to be destroyed which is a bit annoying sometimes. 3 in reptilianne variant

Reptilianne Scylla
A mini goyo, but with all the backrow these days it's very difficult to get an attack through. 1-2 in reptilianne variant

Reptilianne Viper
Another amazing combo with naga, free permanent change of heart on summon. hell yes. viper is also a tuner, so why not steal your opponent's boss and sync to do even more damage. 0-2 in reptilianne variant

all the other reptilianne monsters are kind of mediocre and doesn't really contribute to the theme.

Worms

Worm Xex / Worm Yagan
The two main worms in worm variant. Summon Xex, dump yagan, special yagan through its own effect for instant +1. run 3 of each in worm variants

Worm King / Worm Queen
The two boss of worms. They are both lv 8 so they can be used with trade-in. Also, queen can combo with Viper's rebirth to bring out a king from the deck. run 2-3 of each (3 can be cloggy)

Worm Cartaros
ROTA for worms. Flip effect is a bit slow, but still good. run 2-3

Worm Linx
The insane hand advantage card, if you can keep this guy on the field for at least 2 turns, you will pretty much win the game. although it is quite difficult to run with the space issues of the deck. run 0-2

Worm Apocalypse
MST on legs, It can take out threats like warning/oppression which can stop your rise of the snake deity. works really well with w nebula meteor. 0-2

Worm Zero
The worm fusion. note it says worm with different names, so sending two kings to fuse this guy will only give it 1000 atk. combos with future fusion to dump your worms into the grave and make your vennominon/naga huge. also can become a giant beatstick with insane effect if it stays on the field.

again the other worms monsters are not worth playing. They are either slow or doesn't do enough.

The Spell

Trade-in / Allure of Darkness
Draw power. Nuff said XD

Snake Rain
Can potentially dump 5 reptiles into the grave but it is a -2, and is dead late game. Never run more than 2 copies

Future Fusion
To summon worm zero and dump reptiles. Very nice.

Viper's Rebirth
Hurray for themed monster reborn. what's more the monster gets destroyed at the end phase. so you can summon vennominon, end turn and activate rise to get vennominaga. also combos with worm queen. summon queen, use queen's effect to tribute herself. then summon a king from the deck. The only downside to this card is you can only use it if you only have reptiles in your grave. this does limit your tech choices, but I think it's worth it. 3 in pure reptiles

The Traps

Damage Condenser / Damage = Reptiles
Easy and quick way of getting out vennominon from the deck. I prefer Condenser since it doesn't require a monster even though it is a -1. run 0-2

Limit Reverse
Extra Call of the haunted for vennominon. also, if you switch vennonminon to def mode, it will be destroyed. then you can activate rise. run 1-2 if you are running viper's rebirth run 3 if not

Offering to the Snake Deity
Icarus Attack FTW. This card has no costs, so if it is negated no card is destroyed. But since it's not a cost, if the target reptile monster is removed from the field or flipped facedown, then the effect disappears. run 3

Alien Brain
Nice tech to run. They summon a giant stardust and destroys a xex/scylla, we'll just steal it using this. run 0-2

W Nebula Meteorite
Amazing support for worms. Flips all your worms faceup so they can use their effects, then draw, then summon a king or queen from the deck. Just watch out for the opponent's facedowns, since they will be flipped faceup as well.

Non Archetype Monster

Evil Dragon Anata
Lv 8 dark reptile. allure food, trade-in food. Also can be used as a plan B if things go wrong.

Des Feral Imp
1800 def. good wall. Can add Vennominaga back into the deck if she some how got in to the grave.

Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter
Even though he is not a reptile. He is good. Works with nebula, mills reptiles in grave, take out backrow threats.

Chaos Sorcerer
Vennominon/naga and reptilianne are dark. worms are light, perfect chaos food.

Sample Decks

Coming soon, still working on a consistant version
